Loring LahtiJune 15, 1925 ~ October 20, 2017 (age 92)
Loring Lahti, age 92, of Riverton, Wyoming, and most recently of Kemmerer, WY., died on October 20, 2017 at South Lincoln Nursing Center in Kemmerer, Wy.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
Loring was born to Eino and Blanche Lahti on June 15, 1925, in Camp Crook, South Dakota. He attended school in Buffalo, South Dakota and graduated high school in 1943.
Loring attended Black Hills Teacher’s College in Spearfish, S.D. Graduating in 1950. He moved to Riverton, WY. in the fall of 1950 to teach math. In January of 1951, he married Janet Allan, who was also teaching in Riverton. She preceded him in death in January of 2017. He received his Master’s Degree from the University of Wyoming in 1959, in Educational Administration and went on to be the principal at the junior high and also the career center in Riverton. They had two daughters, born in 1955 and 1960.
Loring was of the Episcopal faith, was a member of the Fremont County Shrine Club, the Masonic Lodge, and several civic organizations. He and his wife spent 21 winters in Lake Havasu City, Arizona after retiring. Loring’s hobbies included golfing, fishing, duck hunting, reading and traveling.
He is survived by his two daughters, Lynn (Bob) Schaffarzick, of Kemmerer, WY.; and Kathy (Warren) Morton, of Casper, WY.; four grandchildren, Annie Schaffarzick (Aaron) Wagner, Jimmy Schaffarzick (Amy); Allen Morton, Conner Morton, and a brother, Harlan.
Memorial donations may be made to the Fremont County Shrine Crippled Children’s Travel fund.; in care of 2203 W. Main St. Riverton, WY. 82501.
