Gary Mainville, "Goose" passed away on March 13, 2020 at South Lincoln Nursing Center. He was 79 years of age.
Gary grew up in Fort Francis, Canada, the son of a French descendant who worked in the paper mills. His mother passed away when Goose was only 11, which unfornunately, left him with only a few memoires of her. After her passing, Goose and his three siblings (all now who are deceased) were raised by his grandmother, a full-blood Ojibwa Indian.
Gary continued school in Canada. About 40 years ago, he moved to the U.S. and worked for Teleweld Inc, a company that was contracted out by the railroad to do welding on the rails. In 1984, Goose obtained somewhat of a "battle wound" while doing some late night maintenance in the Triangle Bar. A man came into the bar to rob the money from the "Cuss Jar" and hit Goose in the left side of the face and head with an axe. Goose was in surgery for several hours for reconstruction. He enjoyed spending time at the senior center playing pool.
He is survived by a daughter, Karen Mainville of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
His friends have planned for a graveside service on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at the South Lincoln Cemetery. Casual dress is recommended. Due to Covid-19, social distancing, and masks are requested.
Cremation took place in the Sping of 2020, and his ashes were scattered in the Mountains of Wyoming.
