Harold Groutage Herzog

Harold Groutage Herzog, our beloved Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2020 at age 87.

Harold was born in Kemmerer, Wyoming on December 20, 1932.   After graduating from Kemmerer High School, he attended and graduated from Brigham Young University. Just prior to being called to serve in the United States Army, Harold married his sweetheart, Nedra, for time and all eternity on July 30, 1954 in the Logan, Utah LDS temple.   He proudly and honorably served in the United States Army in            post-WWII Germany.   He later earned his Masters from the University of Utah.

Harold will be remembered as a teacher, having taught more than 30 years with most of those years spent teaching fifth grade.  He truly loved teaching and found joy in seeing children learn and grow.

As a spiritual and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Harold served in many capacities, most often as a gospel doctrine or seminary teacher.  He loved and cherished the scriptures and studied them throughout his lifetime.

He lead a life of service, sacrifice, unconditional love, and humility.   Harold’s greatest joy and happiness was found in his wife and family.  He was a devoted husband to his teenage love Nedra and together they lovingly raised their five children. – Mark (Wendy), Trudi (John), Matthew (Roberta), Holly (Peter), Jared (Valerie).  Harold was thrilled with his posterity and in being an adored and cherished grandfather to fifteen grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren with whom he had created and nurtured a personal and loving relationship.

A Kemmerer native Harold loved his hometown, its wonderful citizens, and his home town friends. There was nowhere else he’d rather be.  He enjoyed, hunting, fishing and being outdoors in his lifetime home.

Due to COVID and our concerns for family and friends a small family graveside service will be held in Kemmerer with no viewing.  We hope that you are able to hold one or many fond memories and remember him as your teacher, your Ward member, your neighbor, or your friend.
