Abner Luman

Abner was born Nov. 1, 1931 in Rock Springs, Wyo. He was the second child of Robert B. Luman and Doris Bailey Luman and grandson of prominent western pioneer Abner Luman. He was raised on the family ranch on the Green River outside of Pinedale, Wyo.
He attended the Luman School, a one-room school house located on the Kay Luman Ranch from 1937-1941 and completed his high school education at the Holy Cross Abbey in Cañon City, Co. After graduation he joined the U.S. Army and served with the US Army Infantry 32nd Regiment 7th Division in Korea.  After two years in the service in 1955-1956, he returned to Sublette County. In 1958, he bought a ranch in Saratoga and in 1986 moved his cattle operation back to Sublette County to the Robert Luman Ranch. He continued ranching until 2001. He most recently was a resident of LaBarge, Wyo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Kathryn Luman Madro of Lincolnshire, Ill, and Doris Roberta Luman Bacheller of Fort Collins, Co. He is survived by his cousin Dwight Luman of Salt Lake City, UT and his nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the Viola-LaBarge Cemetery.  Lunch will be served at the LaBarge Senior Center following the service. Bring a dish to share if you wish! In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the LaBarge Volunteer Fire Department or the American Legion Auxiliary.
