Arlis Lorene Colerick, age 86, passed away on February 11, 2015, with her family by her side at the South Lincoln Nursing Center in Kemmerer, WY.
Arlis was born on June 14, 1928 in Madison, Nebraska, to Harold and Josephine Dover. She attended Chadron State College where she earned her Master’s degree in Education.
Arlis married Dale Colerick on January 14, 1967 in Bassett, Nebraska where her father who was the county judge officiated their ceremony. The following year Dale and Arlis moved to Kemmerer, Wyoming to begin her teaching career at Kemmerer Elementary School for twenty years. After retiring from teaching, she and Dale returned to Omaha, Nebraska.
Arlis was an active member in the Shrine Golden Girls, The Ladies Auxiliary to the Purple Heart, the 8/40 Club, the Chadron State College Club, and the Florence Presbyterian Church.
She enjoyed traveling with her twin sister. They experienced two trips to Europe and enjoyed three visits to New York City to attend the Twins conventions. Arlis liked square dancing, crossoword puzzles, playing cards, and spending time at the casino.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brothers, Jimmy and Edward Dover.
Arlis is survived by a brother, Jack Dover and her identical twin sister, Avis Pittman, both of Omaha, NE.; sons, Buck (Gayle) Wood of Kemmerer, WY.; and Dean (Carolyn) Wood, of Diamondville, WY. She is also survived by four grandsons and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services to celebrate her life will be conducted on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Pastor Al Bella of Living Water Community Church in Kemmerer, WY. Will officiate. Interment and graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. At Fort MacPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, NE. With Pastor Al Zimmerman of Florence Presbyterian Church officiating.
