Barbara Jean Gregory of Hanna, Wyoming, died on August 19, 2017, in Kemmerer, WY., at the age of 62.  Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, David, of Hanna, WY.; her parents J. Arnold and Rosemond (Rose) Pietron, and a brother, David Pietron, of Larimore, North Dakota.  She is survived by her stepson, and his wife, Phillip and Heather Gregory, grandchildren, Kolten, Ashlyn, Grace, Madelyn, and Konner Gregory.  In addition, her sisters, and brother, Colleen M. Ross, Columbia Falls, Montana, John R. Pietron, Crookston, Minnesota, and Christine L. Maraggos, Englewood, Colorado, and a sister in law, Lori Kim Mitchell, Bellevue, Nebraska.

 

Barbara was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on November 6, 1954.  She attended Larimore Public Schools and graduated in May 1973.  Barbara attended North Dakota State University and doubled majored in Home Economics Education and Textiles.  She student taught in Belfield, North Dakota and graduated in May of 1977.  After graduating, she accepted a position at the Hanna/Elk Mountain/Medicine Bow Jr./Sr. High School until her official retirement on August 31, 2017.  She taught for 40 years and was one of the longest teaching instructors in Carbon County School District #2.

 

Barbara loved teaching, cooking, sewing, interior design, outdoors, and hunting with her husband, David, and stepson, Phillip.  Professionally, Barbara taught Health, Sewing, Cooking, and Pro-Start.  She enjoyed taking her Child Development students to work with the local Wee Folks Preschool each year.  Barbara was a long time sponser of FCCLA and attended conferences and competitions at the state and national level.  She made dear friends across the district during her many years of teaching.  Barbara loved spending time with her grandchildren teaching them how to make candy and how to sew.  She attended many athletic functions locally, regionally, and at the state level with her grandkids.

 

Memorial services will be held at HEM Jr./Sr. High School gymnasium on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. Followed by a luncheon in the Multi Purpose room.  The scattering of ashes will be done privately. 

 

Barbara’s family has established the Barbara J. Gregory Memorial Scholarship for any H.E.M. Student attending a college majoring in a Family and Consumer Science related field including textiles, child care, cooking, consumer behavior, etc.  Any donations would be appreciated and can be sent to: Dr. Leah Rose Pietron, 9611 South 9th Street, Bellevue, NE.  68147.

 

Cremation has taken place under the care of Ball Family Chapel, Kemmerer, WY.
