Barbara Ann Hartmann

Barbara Ann (Noble) Hartmann, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, was born in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 16, 1950, to Howard William Noble and Melba Jo (Steele) Noble.

Barbara attended Knoch High School in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, where she played clarinet in the school band and was a member of the Future Business Leaders of America. She graduated in 1968.

On April 26, 1971, Barbara married the love of her life, Douglas Leigh Hartmann, in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Shortly after their marriage, they traveled west to Idaho, as there were no temples in the eastern United States at that time. There, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Barbara was the devoted mother of six children: Leah Ann McKinney (Chad McKinney), Emily Ann Hartmann, April Marie Corwin (Marshal Corwin), Alyssa Hartmann (Mike Thompson), Brent Hartmann (Marisa Hartmann), and Samantha Hartmann.

She was blessed with nine grandchildren: Connor Bateman (Isobel Bateman), Samson Akwenuke, Nathan Akwenuke, Alexa Collins, Brody Collins, Abram Hartmann, Hudson Hartmann, Harrison Hartmann, and Kenna Evans; and two great-grandchildren, Nova Bateman and Knightley Bateman.

Barbara was dedicated to her family and believed strongly in continuing her education. While raising her children, she attended night school and earned an associate degree from Western Wyoming Community College. She had a great love for teaching and worked as a paraprofessional at both the middle school and elementary school levels.

Barbara was also a hardworking and successful businesswoman. She was an Avon representative for 36 years and operated a successful ice business for more than 40 years.

Her faith was an important part of Barbara’s life. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in her twenties and embraced the gospel throughout her life. She served faithfully in many callings and especially enjoyed teaching Primary and Sunday School. Her faith, love, and service touched many lives.

Barbara found great joy in her family, especially during holidays and gatherings. She loved her country and was a proud supporter of the military. An avid reader and lifelong learner, Barbara had a particular passion for history, with a special interest in World War II history. She enjoyed walking her dog and going on Ranger rides with her husband and dog. She was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved watching the games and cheering for her “home team.”

Barbara was a talented seamstress. She sewed her own wedding dress as well as many beautiful church dresses for her daughters. She also enjoyed quilting and took great pleasure in sharing her handmade quilts with others. Her quilts, like her life, were made with patience, love, and care.

Barbara leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, creativity, service, and, above all, love for her family. She will be deeply missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Barbara is survived by her beloved husband, Douglas; her six children and their spouses; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Debra Elwood and Sherry Filges.

Barbara will be laid to rest at the South Lincoln Cemetery, Kemmerer, Wyoming in a private family graveside service.
