Carolyn Gunter, age 81, died at Sage West Medical Center in Lander, WY. On Sunday, June 14, 2015. She was born on August 13, 1933 in Lyman, Wyoming, the daughter of Edward and Florence Mae (Simpson) Stadmiller. She married Ronald Gunter, in June of 1951, and they later divorced.
Carolyn lived in Lander for numerous years, enjoying attending the Senior Center and enjoyed spending time with several friends and neighbors. She especially enjoyed her friendship with her longtime friend, Kay Delozier. Carolyn loved to play pinocchole, and other card games. She loved to bowl, and work with her flowers in her garden. She enjoyed a good word search as well. Carolyn was an avid fan of The University of Wyoming Cowboys, The Kemmerer Rangers, the Lander Tigers, and Pro Golf. She enjoyed talkng to her children about the games, and could always be seen supporting the local high school sports teams in action.
She is survived by her children, a son, Larry (Connie) Gunter, of Kemmerer, WY.; Barbara Couture, of Evanston, WY.; Patricia (Brian) Challinor, of Kemmerer, WY.; James (Jodie) Gunter, of Kemmerer, WY.; and Monica (Rick) Sollars, of Lander, WY. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Erica Thoman, Tanna Stimson, Lisa Gunter, Thomas James Gunter, Susan Gunter, Devin Challinor, Nate Hamilton, Kelsey Blakman, Tyson Sollars, and Allyson Sollars. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren, and a brother, Bob Stadmiller, of Northridge, CA. She is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends, who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, a brother, Jack, a granddaughter, Amy Gunter, and a great grandson, Chance Thoman.
Visitation will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 9:00 A.M. Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. At St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, with Father David officiating. Interment will follow services at the South Lincoln Cemetery, Kemmerer, WY.
