Chet K. Ray passed away at Cheyenne Regional Hospital in Cheyenne, Wyoming on January 27, 2026. He was born and raised in Kemmerer, Wyoming, a place that shaped his character and grounded him throughout his life.
Chet is survived by his daughter, Amber; his granddaughter, Alyssa; his grandson, Tristian; his sisters, Nancy (Royal) Nielson, Joni Averette, and Robbie Ray; his brother, Max (Ruth) Fritzel; and many nieces, nephews, and Cousins who loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette; his mother, Skippy Ray, his father, Charles "Chet" Ray; and his loyal dog, Jack.
Chet's lifelong passion was working as a mechanic. His skill and dedication took him to Arizona, Colorado, and Wyoming, where he worked on all kinds of equipment. Even when he wasn't on the job, he could be found tinkering, fixing, and lending a hand to anyone who needed help.
Through his travels and his work, Chet made many friends. He was always willing to show up for others, and his generosity left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 1:00 - 1:45 pm at Ball Family Chapel and graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm at the South Lincoln Cemetery, Kemmerer, WY.; with Pastor Richard Hartman officiating. Interment will follow graveside services at the South Lincoln Cemetery, Kemmerer, WY.
