Remembering Fred Beatty
May 6, 1963 – October 24, 2026
Fred Beatty passed away on October 24, 2026, after a long and difficult battle with lung disease. In 2025, he received a lung transplant that gave him another chance in life. On October 19, just five days before he passed, Fred reached his one-year anniversary with his new lungs. We had hoped to celebrate many more anniversaries with him, but life had other plans.
Fred was born on May 6, 1963, in Dennison, Ohio, to Fred Beatty Jr. and Barbara Beatty. During his teenage years, he moved with his family from Ohio to Granger, Wyoming. He eventually made his way to Kemmerer, where he met Brenda Mills. They were married on New Year's Day in 1993 and began building their lives together.
Fred and Brenda raised three children: Alex (Wendy), Joshua Robert, known to many as Spike (Jessie), and Christine Irene. Being a family man meant a lot to Fred. His work often took him away from home, but he did his best to be there for his kids and cheered them on in their activities whenever he could. Even when he couldn't be there for every moment, his family was always important to him.
When Fred wasn't working, you could often find him doing something he enjoyed. He loved working on cars, hunting, camping, and riding four-wheelers and side-by-sides. He also loved his Harley. Fred was happiest when he was outdoors, working with his hands, or enjoying the things he loved.
The last few years brought more challenges than anyone should have to face. Fred fought a long battle with lung disease, going through treatments, setbacks, and eventually a transplant. There were good days and hard days, but he kept going. His new lungs gave us hope and the gift of another year together, something we will always be grateful for.
Although his journey ended sooner than we wanted, we are thankful for the time we had and for the people who stood beside us through it all. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Beatty Jr. and Barbara Beatty, and his parents-in-law, Karin and Eddy Mills.
He leaves behind his wife, Brenda; his children, Alex (Wendy), Joshua Robert (Spike) (Jessie), and Christine Irene; four grandsons, one granddaughter, and a grand bunny who'll hold a special place in his family's heart. He is also survived by his siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends.
Fred's life was about more than the years he lived or the struggles he faced. It was about the family he loved, the things he enjoyed, the miles he traveled, the cars he worked on, the rides on his Harley, and the memories he leaves behind. We wish we could have had more time with him. There were still more places to go, more memories to make, and more days we thought we would have together. But we will carry Fred with us in the stories we tell, the memories we share, and the little reminders of him that show up when we least expect them.
Fred will be missed more than words can say. He was loved, he will always be part of our family, and he will never be forgotten.
