James Michael Kiren

James Michael “Jimmy” Kiren passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 15, 2026, at the

Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne. Born on January 16, 1950, in Kemmerer, Wyoming, to

Frank, Jr., and Katherine Kiren, Jimmy was raised in and spent all but a few years of his life

in Diamondville.

After high school, Jimmy spent sixteen months at the Pine Ridge Job Corps Center in

Nebraska training in custodial maintenance. After completing Job Corps, he spent years

working as a custodian at the hospital and schools in Kemmerer where he developed a

reputation for his meticulous work. During this period of his life, he was similarly

meticulous in keeping his home immaculately clean, his clothes perfectly pressed, and the

new Chevy pick-up he bought every couple years spotlessly shined.

When he was no longer able to work, Jimmy was happiest following his predictable daily

routine, passing time in his favorite chair, and enjoying the sense of peace and comfort he

found in being solitary. He had a voracious sweet tooth and loved watching television.

Nothing brought a smile to Jimmy’s face more than a sweet treat, the sight of a shiny new

pick-up truck, or newly fallen snow on a winter morning.

Jimmy was predeceased by his grandparents Frank, Sr., and Frances Kiren; his father Frank

Kiren, Jr.; and his devoted, doting mother Katherine Kiren Morris who committed decades

of her life to lovingly and selflessly caring for her son. He was also predeceased by

his brother Gary Frank Kiren and sister Beverly Jo Kiren.

He is survived by his sisters Frankie Ann Kiren and Roberta Morris of Rock Springs; his

sister-in-law Lorilyn Grover Kiren of Cheyenne, whom Jimmy trusted above all others and

who faithfully managed his affairs and selflessly cared for his every need for decades; and

his nieces and nephews.

Jimmy’s family extends their deep gratitude to his numerous caregivers over the years who,

with patience and kindness, helped bear the burdens of mortality that Jimmy bore that they

were made lighter for him.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at South

Lincoln Cemetery in Kemmerer, where Jimmy will be inurned.
