John Milton Giorgis, 77, passed away on April 20, 2023 at South Lincoln Medical Center In Kemmerer, Wyoming. He was born May 6, 1945 in Kemmerer to John and Edith Carollo Giorgis.
John grew up in Frontier, Wyoming and graduated from Kemmerer High School in 1963. He received his Associates Degree in Business from the College of Eastern Utah. He was a member of the Wyoming Army National Guard, and was always proud of his service to his country. After college, he returned to Frontier and continued working with his father in their trapping business. He found his “niche” in life working at the Naughton Power Plant near Kemmerer as a Maintenance Mechanic. John loved his job, and made many lifelong friendships while there. He retired in 2002.
John married SuzAnn Daly on August 7, 1987 in Lander, Wyoming. They settled in Diamondville, Wyoming, and later relocated their family to Kemmerer.
John was a member of the LDS Church, the IBEW Local Union #57, the Kemmerer Chapter of the American Legion, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He was a big game hunter and trapper all of his life, and he was an avid collector of many things.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, three stepchildren that he considered his own, Daniel (Brandi) Varga of Kemmerer, Mike (Terri) Atkin of Casper, Wyoming, and Amanda Berg (Rhandy) Johnson of Riverdale, Utah; fifteen grandchildren; one sister, Arlene (Jim) Brannan of Bountiful, Utah; one uncle, George (Julia) Carollo; numerous nieces and nephews; and several important people he considered his “extra” children and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as one sister, Teri Giorgis. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to extend special thank yous to John’s lifelong friend, Jere Borino, and family friend, Jennie Spriggs, as well as the many buddies made throughout his life.
