 John C. Vickrey passed away on June 22, 2024 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. John was born on December 1, 1952 at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC. He attended school in Torrington and graduated in 1971. He also attended EWC for a year, “Just becasue he could”. Not knowing what he wanted to do in life he joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany. After leaving the service, he met and married MaryAnn Almazan from Guernsey, to them a daughter Deidre was born. They later divorced. In 1988 he re-met IDalou Mort Cope and they later married. Idalou was by his side upon his death. 

 

 

 

He is preceded in death by his parents Gene and Marge Vickrey, his youngest sister, Janet and his oldest sister, Susan. He is survived by his wife, Idalou of Cheyenne, WY.; a daughter, Deidre of Washington, his brother, Gene (Rita) of Kemmerer, WY; a sister, Judy Clasen of Longmont, CO. He was a beloved uncle to many nnieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

 

 

 

John will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, and the good times pulling fish out of the water, his embelishments about fishing will be forever remembered at the Moose Lodge, where he was a proud member for over twenty five years. 

 

 

 

Cremation has taken place and graveside servcies will be conducted on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the South Lincoln Cemetery, Kemmerer, WY.; at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Richard Hartman as the officiant.

 

 

 

The family will hold a celebration of life on August 23, 24, 2024 in Longmont, Colorado.
