Ritchie L. Legarra (Grampy), age 72, passed away at Evanston Regional Hospital in Evanston on January 30,2026. He was born on June 25,1953 in the San Francisco Bay area in California the son of Stanley (Chub) and Betty (Hacklin) Legarra. His wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest by his wife. A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Viola Cemetery in LaBarge. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife (Jan) and one brother (Terry). He leaves behind a sister Kim Carson (Mike), Kerry Legarra (Pam) nieces and nephews. Grampy was raised in California where he was a life guard, played football and attended junior college . He briefly attended college in North Dakota until he came back to Labarge where he worked in the oilfield and stayed for the next 50 years. He married Jan and was a father figure to both of her children; James and Jessi Combs, as well as a grandpa to Jordon Dawn and Dakota James. Grampy was a very talented man that could fix almost anything. He was talented at woodworking (intarsia) as well as gunstock carving, smoking meats, riding his Harley, and spoiling his dogs. He enjoyed hunting and gardening and hated yard work. The world was much better for having him in it and we were truly blessed to have had him in our lives.
