Thomas "Tom" Rock Lindsay, passed away on June 24, 2026, at his home.Tom was born on January 7, 1944, to Janice Marie Rock and Clyde W. Lindsay, Jr. in Palm Springs, California. Tom's father was a Medical Service Corps officer and served in many locations during Tom's childhood. The family lived in Japan, California, Texas and Utah during Tom's early years. Tom graduated from East High School in Salt Lake in 1961. During high school he was on the swim and water polo teams. He was also in the choir and was chosen to perform in the musical, Promised Valley. After high School Tom joined the Army and attended the Army's Flight Simulator Operator and Air Traffic Control courses. He was transferred to El Paso, Texas where he operated a Link Trainer, teaching pilots how to fly. While in Texas he met and married Lynn Allen. Tom pursued higher education and graduated from San Jose State in 1969 with a degree in Business Marketing. In July 1969, Tom was commissioned as a 2nd Lt and then completed the Army's Rotary Wing Aviator and Battalion Surgeons Assistant courses. He was sent to Viet Name and would frequently say, "I went to save lives, not to take them." Tom was always haunted by the fact that of the five officers in his class, he was the only one to come home. Following service in Viet Nam, Tom held numerous administrative positions in the civilian world but usually managed to work in his love of flying by owning and flying his own aircraft in service to others. His pilot's license showed he was qualified to fly commercial rotorcraft, fixed wing, single and multi-engine, land and sea planes and was instrument qualified.He spent time as a hospital or financial administrator for a number of organizations, working in Alaska, California, Arizona and Utah, as well as owning his own businesses. During Tom's time in Alaska, he flew officers for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to various wards throughout Southeast Alaska and the Yukon, as well removing family members in crisis or medical emergencies from remote villages. At one point Tom served as the Utah Mobile Paramedic Coordinator organizing the first paramedic class at Weber State University. Tom also spent 10 plus years as a commercial truck driver, working for several companies. Tom also served as Principal Auditor for the State of Wyoming.Tom and Lynn were divorced in 1987. In 1993 Tom married Sunda Adams of Payson, Utah. Tom and Sunda served a mission for the church in Nebraska and Texas. He became very close to Sunda's children and grandchildren. Sunda died in 2015 of multiple strokes, leaving Tom devastated. In 2019 Tom met and married Catharine Hayzlett of Grand Junction, Colorado.Tom is survived by his wife, Catharine; brothers, Steven and Rick; and sister, Kathy. He is also survived by his sons, Robert and Tom; daughter, Carol, as well as Sunda's children, Teri, Kim and Christopher. He has numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren as well. He was preceded in death by his son, David; and Sunda's daughter, Michelle.There will be a public visitation on Monday, July 6, 2026, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Chapel 130 9th Ave. North, Buhl, Idaho 83316.A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Latter-day Saints, 501 Main Street, Buhl, Idaho.A graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at Evanston Cemetery, 526 County Road, Evanston, Wyoming.l
